Privacy policy

No accounts, no ads, no analytics scripts and no cookies of my own. When you click a retailer link I record the click, not you.

This policy explains what information is collected when you visit sarafbazar.com (Saraf Bazar, “I”, “us”), why, and what choices you have. The site is operated by Sahil. Contact: hello@sarafbazar.com.

What I collect

Nothing to read the site. There are no accounts, comment forms, newsletter forms or contact forms.

Retailer clicks. Retailer buttons go through an address on my site (sarafbazar.com/go/…) that forwards you to the retailer. When a person (not a bot) uses one, I store one row with:

  • the time of the click and which link it was;
  • the page you clicked from, reduced to its address without any query string;
  • campaign tags in the link (utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_content, utm_term), if there were any;
  • a contributor’s referral code, if the link carried a valid one;
  • the country my hosting provider, Cloudflare, reports for the request, as a two-letter code.

I do not store your IP address, your full browser details or any identifier for you, and I don’t set a cookie. I use these rows to see which pages and contributors send readers to which retailers. Clicks from crawlers, link previews and monitoring tools are not stored.

Hosting logs. My hosting and content-delivery provider, Cloudflare, processes technical data such as IP address, browser type and the page requested in order to deliver the site and protect it from abuse, under its own privacy policy. I use it only to run, secure and troubleshoot the site.

Email. If you email me, I receive your address and what you write, and use them to reply and to keep a record of corrections. I don’t add you to a mailing list.

What stays on your device

The Saved tab and your list or grid preference are stored in your own browser (local storage). They never leave your device, and I can’t see them. Clearing your browser’s site data removes them.

Analytics and cookies

I run no analytics scripts and set no cookies of my own. Cloudflare may set strictly necessary security cookies in some situations, for example to tell people from bots during an attack. If I ever add analytics, I will update this policy, including its date, before turning it on.

When you leave Saraf Bazar for a retailer, that site’s privacy policy and cookies apply. If a link is marked “Paid link”, the retailer or its affiliate network may set a cookie or similar identifier on its own site so it can credit the sale to me. I receive reports of clicks and commissions from them, generally without your name or contact details. See the disclosure.

How long I keep things

Click rows are kept for up to 25 months, then deleted. Emails are kept as long as needed to handle your message and keep a record of corrections. Hosting logs are kept by Cloudflare under its retention settings.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, including under US state privacy laws such as California’s, you may have the right to ask what personal information I hold about you, to correct it or to delete it. Click rows can’t be linked to you, so the data most likely to be about you is an email you sent me. Email hello@sarafbazar.com to make a request. I don’t sell or share personal information, and I won’t treat you differently for exercising your rights.

Children

Saraf Bazar is written for adults making large purchases. It isn’t directed at children under 13, and I don’t knowingly collect their information.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes too. Material changes will be described here before they take effect.
